BIOGRAPHY

Marc MacRowland is a future hero of house. With 14 years experience on the scene under his belt he is turning heads with monster tracks, trendsetting sound choices and a frightening amount of natural ability.

MacRowland exploded fully into the public consciousness in 2011 when he released The Final Countdown. An inspired reworking of the epic eighties anthem by hair metal heroes Europe, it is a pumped-up progressive house banger that has ‘packed room’ and ‘huge crowd’ written all over it.

The tune, released on Spinnin’ Records, successfully takes the very best elements of the original record and repackages it for a new generation. Its explosive nature hasn’t gone unnoticed, with support from a vast crop of internationally recognised DJs and stacks of airplay at clubs around the world.

But this recent global smash is just a small piece of the Marc MacRowland tale. His story begins in Rotterdam, when at the age of 16 he discovered an extraordinary talent for mixing records. He had found his calling, and from there never once looked back.

His first big break wasn’t far away. He entered a DJ contest at famous Rotterdam club Nighttown with the hopes of getting a toehold in the industry. With a slot at the Fast Forward Dance Parade up for grabs and Ferry Corsten and Michel de Hey on the judging panel, the stakes were high. MacRowland blew away the competition to claim first place and went on to play to a crowd of 50,000 party minded people at the Dutch equivalent of the Loveparade – an unbelievable opportunity.

Determined not to let such a chance to shine go to waste, MMR threw himself into performing with his heart and soul. His hard work and raw talent didn’t go unnoticed and he was soon rewarded with a residency at the Ministry of Dance in Rotterdam and bookings across the country.

His list of appearances at notable club nights and venues grew at incredible speed. To date he has notched up sessions at Mysterious, Latin Lovers, I Love Housemusic, Mascarada, Metz on Sunday, Beatloverz, Kapsones, Heart, Samsobeats, Love Generation, Framebusters, Sexy Mother Fucker and Champions of Sound.

Venue performances include: Thalia Lounge, Offcorso, Maassilo, Now & Wow, Club Rex, Cruise Terminal, Jimmy Woo, The Powerzone, VIP-Room, Club Vie, Beachclub Vroeger Bloomingdale, Escape Venue, Club Monza, Beachclub View, Prinses Theater, Brunotti Beachhouse and many more.

Not only that, his list of festival appearances continue to snowball. His ability to keep huge crowds enthralled with apparent ease led him to secure slots at Latin Village, Dutchweek Festival (Val Thorens, France), Amsterdam Dance Event, So Sexy Festival, Sexy Mother Fucker’s Beach Festival, Dance 4 Free, Rotterdam Electronic Music Festival, Save Me Festival, Koninginnedance, Volvo Ocean Race and The 25 year old Oerol Festival on Terschelling.

Recent bookings have taken MacRowland as far afield as Miami/USA, Bosnia, France, Thailand and Indonesia. But when he’s not behind the decks at festivals and clubs around the world he’s busy in the studio, honing his craft as a producer. Successes to date include early release People, released on Sidney Samson and Gregor Salto’s label Samsobeats. This track, released in 2008, was quick to receive heartfelt support from DJs and fans alike.

MacRowland has also forged a fruitful and long-lasting partnership with another rising star of the house scene, Robbie Taylor. Highlights of their discography include a remix of DJ Chus’ That Feeling on Spain’s world famous Stereo Productions label, described by MacRowland as a ‘dream come true.’ This also led them into the release of their own production on the same label in 2009, a fab tribal track called Paseos.

Another smash for the pair was Black Bamboo, released on Hardwell’s label Slized and with a Hardwell remix to boot. This track was picked up by Sander van Doorn and played at the majority of the Sensation events after it was released. They have also worked with Sneakerz Muzik on two exciting releases, State of Mind and State of Mind pt 2.

Expect more killer productions and remixes from Marc MacRowland soon as well as a continuation of his packed international playing schedule. Grab any chance you get to get to see this guy in action – he’ll provide a house music experience that simply can’t be beaten.
